How I Saved My Marriage With A Backup Camera
I think it is safe to say that the majority of us love our spouses dearly, but there are times when the aggravation caused by your other half can drive you crazy.
If you have ever stood in your driveway, the boat launching ramp or the campground arguing loudly with your wife about her inability to communicate clear direction for you to back up easily and safely then you know what I mean. Or if you have ever had an exasperated discussion about a high car repair bill because she ran into something trying to back into that tight parking spot at the mall, then you have experienced that feeling of extreme aggravation.
I've been there. It wasn't always a pretty sight and the bad feelings that ensued ruined some very nice outings.
It wasn't until my friend invited me over to accompany him on a fishing trip that I discovered the solution to my problem. I watched as he hooked up his boat trailer in less time than it took me to write this sentence. He had a portable wireless camera that attached to his bumper with a monitor in his truck cab that allowed him to position his trailer hitch perfectly with no jockeying back and forth or without relying on me to direct him.
Eureka! I realized that I had found the perfect solution to smooth out a rough patch in my spousal relationship. I immediately began researching to find the best wireless back up camera for us.
I quickly discovered that there are three main choices for a wireless system:
- A portable camera and monitor
- A camera that attaches to your license plate and a monitor that attaches to your dash or windshield.
- A camera that attaches by drilling a hole in your vehicle and a monitor on your dash or windshield.
There are variations of these three types of course like combining the monitor with your GPS unit, having the monitor mounted in your side mirror or having the camera surface-mounted on your vehicle.
All operate wirelessly on the 2.4GHz frequency which can be interesting sometimes because of all the other devices using this band like baby monitors or cell phones.
The fixed types of systems get power to the camera by easily splicing into the wiring of your reverse taillights and only come on when you are in reverse. The monitors can be wired to your vehicle electrical system or with a connection to the cigarette lighter or power socket in cars without a lighter. The portable systems use rechargeable Li batteries for power.
I made a decision to get a portable wireless backup camera system and we now enjoy our outdoor activities so much more. So......
